School meals

We believe that lunchtime should be the highlight of the day for everyone at Clarkson Infant & Nursery School.

We want to help children gain a real appreciation for good quality food, where it comes from, how it’s produced and why healthy food is important.

School meals are provided by specialist schools caterer, Aspens. They provide delicious, nutritious and healthy meals every day.

Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) provides funding for schools to offer free school meals to pupils in reception, year 1, and year 2. Therefore all meals in our main school are free of charge.

We encourage your child to take up the offer of a free school meal.

This is available to all children! The children have a good choice of nutritionally balanced meals each day, including the option of a school packed lunch.

If you would prefer to send a packed lunch from home, this should include; a savoury item such as a sandwich, fruit, yogurt and one treat only (in the form of crisps or cake or snack bar, etc - no sweets) and a drink (no fizzy drinks).

It is essential that food items containing nuts or traces of nuts must NOT be brought into school, due to severe allergies.

Throughout the school day, children are also provided with a quarter of a bagel and a fruit snack. The bagels are provided by the Magic Breakfast Scheme!

Please see the document below for the ingredients and allergens for the New York Bagels.
