Early Years

Early Years - Reception

If you are new to our Reception Year Group - please take a look at the information below.

We have created a presentation which should help your child become a little more familiar with our school, prior to their Settling In Session in September.

Please click on this link to access this presentation.

Parent Zoom Call

You will all receive an allotted time for a zoom call from your child's class teacher before they start school in September.

Settling In Sessions

We will be holding our stay and play sessions in September directly before the children start school. The children will then attend school on a part time basis to allow them to settle into the schools routines and allow positive relationships to be developed between the children and adults. During the second week of attending school part time we will add staying for lunch to the children’s routine.

Teachers

This year we are being joined by an experienced team leader, Mrs Yarland. She will phone preschool settings to find out as much as possible about the children before separating the children into two classes. Mrs Pearson will be the other class teacher.

Forms

Please remember to return your school admissions forms to the office by Monday 12th July.

When returning the forms, please also include a copy of your child’s birth certificate and a proof of address. If you have any further questions or need support to complete the intake forms please contact the school office who will be pleased to help.

Lunches

We would encourage your child to take up the offer of a free school meal.

This is available to all children! The children have a good choice of nutritionally balanced meals each day, including the option of a school packed lunch.

If you would prefer to send a packed lunch from home, this should include; a savoury item such as a sandwich, fruit, yogurt and one treat (in the form of crisps or cake or snack bar, etc - no sweets) and a drink (no fizzy drinks).

It is essential that food items containing nuts or traces of nuts must NOT be brought into school, due to severe allergies.

Please view our new menu here.

Uniform

As the children spend a lot of time outside in Reception, we are happy for the children to wear dark leggings/trousers/jogging bottoms, along with their school polo shirt and cardigan/jumper.

Robust school shoes/black trainers are advised, and should be Velcro to encourage independence.

Family Worker

Please have a read of Vicki Ellinor's Introduction Document. She has also put together some Transition Information which you may find useful.

Please also see below some great workshops that Vicki Ellinor, Family Worker, has put on for many 'New to Reception' Cambridgeshire parents.
