Safeguarding
Clarkson Infant and Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Safeguarding is everybody's responsibility
Safeguarding is an integral part of our life in school. All Clarkson Infant & Nursery School staff receive yearly training to help them to recognise signs of abuse and neglect and to promote the welfare of our children. All staff and Governors are asked to read and sign to say that they understand the safeguarding policy and the most recent version of Keeping Children Safe in Education document, on a yearly basis.
We have arrangements and processes in place to faciliate safeguarding and we will endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued.
The school will therefore be alert to signs of abuse and neglect and will follow procedures to ensure that children receive appropriate and effective support and protection.
Parents/carers should know that the law requires all school staff to pass on information which gives rise to a concern about a child’s welfare, including risk from neglect, physical, emotional or sexual abuse. Parents/carers should know that records of safeguarding concerns may be kept about their child. They should be informed that school staff will seek, in general, to discuss any concerns with them including referrals to other agencies, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
The designated people with responsibility for child protection in our school are:
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) - Mrs Kane (Headteacher)
Deputy DSLs - Mrs Barnes (Asst Head/EYFS), Mrs Smith (SENDCo) and Ms Grylls (HLTA)
Prevent & Safeguarding Governor - Mrs Harvey
